OPEC+: Oil Production to Increase by 137,000 Barrels per Day

A virtual meeting of the eight members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC+), held on September 7, 2025, resulted in a decision to adjust their oil production. Starting in October 2025, these countries will increase production by 137,000 barrels per day.

This measure is part of a broader adjustment plan announced in April 2023, which had initially cut production by 1.65 million barrels per day. OPEC+ justifies this gradual reintroduction with “stable global economic prospects” and what it considers “strong” market fundamentals, particularly low oil inventories.

OPEC+ members also reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining market stability. They reserved the right to suspend or reverse these adjustments—including the 2.2 million barrels per day cuts decided in November 2023—depending on market developments.

To closely monitor the situation, OPEC+ countries will continue to hold monthly meetings, with the next one scheduled for October 5, 2025.
