TotalEnergies Secures New Offshore Exploration Permit off the Coast of Congo

TotalEnergies has obtained a new exploration permit for a deepwater area off the coast of the Republic of Congo. This new block, called Nzombo, covers 1,000 km² and is located 100 km from Pointe-Noire, near the existing Moho facilities.

The French oil company will operate the project with a 50% stake, partnering with QatarEnergy (35%) and the National Oil Company of Congo (SNPC) (15%), the latter also holding a share in the Moho facilities.

An exploration well will be drilled on this site before the end of 2025. With this project, TotalEnergies is strengthening its presence in Congo, where its current production stands at around 65,000 barrels of oil per day. The group expects this new permit to contribute to the discovery of “high-impact prospects.”
